Artist biography
Born in Bangladesh and raised in the UK, Masuma have always been drawn to the arts. From a young age it was clear that she had a passion for creative expression. Masuma’s work explores themes of self-discovery and the journey, utilising art to represent discoveries she’s made and how she’s reacted to what she has discovered. Masuma experimented with different mediums and techniques, and her work evolved as she explored new themes and ideas. Today, Masuma continues to create art that reflects her personal vision and experiences. Constantly pushing the boundaries of her creativity and striving to inspire others to explore her own artistic journeys.
Masuma is a traditional portrait artist and most of her works are created using oil paint. Her most recent works delve into the idea of discovering one’s heritage and family history. She explores her family’s hidden past and has created a collection of work based on her grandfather’s untold story. She explores ideas of death, grief and memory creating paintings and prints to bring light Bangladeshi culture and its history.
